Oracle expecting a ground breaking expansion of its fusion middleware products
Oracle, the leading enterprise software giant, is expecting a ground breaking expansion of its fusion middleware products including exalogic elastic cloud in Bangladesh in the coming days.
"We are definitely going to see Bangladesh as one of the IT giants. The country is one of the most focused regions for us in the South Asian Growth Economies (SAGE)," Sajid Akbar, country sales manager of Oracle Fusion Middleware in SAGE region, told the FE in an interview recently.
Oracle Fusion Middleware, an Oracle brand, in Bangladesh is currently serving many industries ranging from manufacturing, retail, distribution, utilities, telecom, banking, insurance, government institutions and health with its broad range of products, which caters to their specific needs, Mr Akbar said.
Most of the banking customers and a telecom customers in Bangladesh are using either Oracle technology solution or Oracle middleware products, he said, adding that oracle has a lot to offer to local businesses, specially the SME sector, to help them being more efficient and even more profitable.
"Inshaallah, we are optimistic of some ground breaking expansion of the exalogic cloud platform in Bangladesh soon," he said.
Expressing Oracle's firm commitment to Bangladeshi customers, he further said that the company considers the country as its one of the key markets for IT in SAGE-West.
Bangladesh government has taken a lot of steps to materialise and achieve its vision "Digital Bangladesh" and Oracle is a major technology partner in most of the government projects, he added.
"In my opinion, IT business in general has seen a lot of growth in Bangladesh and my interaction with industry stake holders suggests that it will gain further momentum, which is actually a moment of pride for all of us, who work hard within this industry," he noted.
He further said that the company received great response to Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud in Bangladesh and the momentum is picking up in the local industry. Importantly, Oracle solutions, in conjunction with the local partners, are providing them opportunities to work on world class solutions and, in collaboration/ consortium with leading global system integrators, helping the local ecosystem to grow very well due to cross-border knowledge transfer.
The US -based company's fusion middleware products reside between the Oracle Database and Oracle Applications and are the strategic foundation for maximising value of database investments and extending strategic value of investments in applications such as CRM, ERP, Supply Chain and industry applications.
"It is a comprehensive portfolio of complete, open and integrated best-of-breed solutions ranging from the Application Server and broader Application Grid platform at the bottom up to the User Interaction layer," Oracle country sales manager said.
"In order to reap maximum business benefits from the cloud, customers must adapt middleware technologies that help in application consolidation and real time integration of data," Mr Akbar noted.
About security strengths of the products, he said, "It is a matter of concern for all the enterprise-customers. We are covering it from a cloud platform perspective from the level of the desk to the applications. Different level of securities is provided to all the tiers within the databases, applications server and core business applications."
"Purely from the cloud perspective, we are giving two main offerings-- Exadata, a database machine and Exalogic data, which is a cloud machine. A lot of security components are inherently incorporated into the fundamental structure of a cloud offering of both the options," he said.
He termed Bangladesh as an 'emerging instrumental market' and said, "We are going to see a big time in Bangladesh. We are expecting a lot of momentum on Oracle solutions in the country."
In general, Oracle's business growth in Bangladesh's technology sector was seen enormous; Bangladesh is definitely gaining a lot of momentum, which is actually moment of pride for all of us, the Oracle Fusion Middleware country sales manager in SAGE region said.
SAGE region includes a set of countries including Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives and Afghanistan.
About the Oracle's Cloud Strategy product, Mr Sajid said that Oracle's cloud offerings are complete, open and integrated - spanning applications, middleware, database, operating systems, virtualisation, servers, storage, networking and management of the entire stack.
Oracle offers a comprehensive set of building blocks for building and managing private PaaS and IaaS clouds, customer options for running Oracle technology in public clouds or on-premise, and enterprise applications deployed on a shared services private cloud as well as a public cloud model via Oracle On Demand.
Oracle is a cloud computing leader with thousands of customer successes. For example, Credit Suisse built a private, self-service, Java Platform-as-a-Service using Oracle WebLogic, consolidated over 200 applications onto the platform, saved 35 per cent in operating costs, reduced 85 per cent of their servers, and avoided 44 per cent power increase while doubling capacity.
We believe that Private PaaS is the natural evolution for enterprise data centers. The first step for many customers will be to consolidate onto a shared pool of resources, which could be at the PaaS (middle tier, database tier) or IaaS (VM/Compute tier).
