Planning Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal said, government will work on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in collaboration with BASIS to develop the IT sector. In this regard different software and ITES companies will be formed including gaming companies.Â This would facilitate the achievement of USD 1 billion export and 1% contribution to GDP by the industry by 2018, he added in a meeting with BASIS delegation.
BASIS delegation led by President Shameem Ahsan met him on Wednesday evening. Among others, BASIS Senior Vice President Russell T. Ahmed, BASIS Vice President M. Rashidul Hasan, Secretary General Uttam Kumar Paul, Joint Secretary General Mr. Mostafizur Rahman Sohel and BASIS Executive Director Sami Ahmed were also present at the meeting.
BASIS President Shameem Ahsan said, BASIS along with concerned Ministries and agencies of government have been working towards country branding in the global market, along with expansion of local market and creation of skilled IT workforce, and creating employment for them to establish Bangladesh as the next IT destination. More involvement of Planning Division will accelerate the capacity building and overall development of the IT industry.
In the process of contributing in the development of IT industry, A H M Mustafa Kamal expressed his desire to utilize his previous experiences on the evolvement of Bangladesh Cricket. He said, almost 57 million of the population of Bangladesh is young. We need to utilize our young population to progress. Through public private initiatives, we need to work on capacity building of IT industry in accordance with the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. He asked BASIS to undertake relevant projects with this aspect.
