Seminar & B2B Matchmaking between Bangladesh and Indian IT Companies

A seminar and B2B session titled "ICT development in Bangladesh: opportunities and challenges" was organized by BASIS, BCS, India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) and the High Commission of India, Dhaka on 24th August 2013 at CIRDAP Auditorium. Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) were the partners of the event. Entrepreneurs and analysts from both the countries attended the discussion. BCS President Mustafa Jabbar presided over the inauguration ceremony. ICT Minister Mostafa Faruque Mohammed was present as the chief guest where Indian High Commissioner Pankaj Saran was present as the honorary guest and Secretary of Ministry of ICT N I Khan, Director General of CIRDAP Dr. Cecep Effendi were present as the special guests in the program while BASIS President AKM Fahim Mashroor delivered his welcome address. Among others, S Radhakrishnan Chairman, CII eastern and Abdul Matlub Ahmad, President of IBCCI also spoke in the program. Vice President of BCS Moinul Islam Khan gave vote of thanks at the end. BASIS Vice President Syed Almas Kabir conducted the session. ICT Minister Mostafa Faruque Mohammed in his speech mentioned that, said that the joint seminar would be ?another milestone? in the development of the IT sectors of both the countries. It may be mentioned here that, during this daylong session, three different technical sessions were arranged, the sessions were: Opportunities of cooperation in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Opportunities of Cooperation in Software development and testing and Opportunities of cooperation in Training and Skill Development. Abdul Matlub Ahmad, President, IBCCI chaired the technical sessions where Syed Almas Kabir, Vice President, BASIS made a presentation on Overview of IT Sector in Bangladesh and Sushil Agarwal, Asstt. Vice President & Group Manager, Client Services, Infosys Ltd. The Speakers of these sessions were Shaikh Abdul Aziz, Managing Director, Leads Corportaion Limited, S Kabir Ahmed, Managing Director, IBCS-PRIMAX Software (BD) Ltd., TIM Nurul Kabir, CEO, Spinnovation Ltd., Pradipta Dutta, Regional Head, Compliance, ADP India Pvt. Ltd. PM Sundararajan , CEO, SunSmart Global Limited, Debdas Sen, Executive Director, Pricewaterhouse Coopers India (PwC). The Seminars covered various areas of cooperation including opportunities of cooperation in Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO), Software Development and Testing, Training and Skill development. This is the first time that coordinated efforts are being made by the stakeholders aimed at bringing together the premier IT Sector Institutions of India and Bangladesh on a platform where they can share their experiences of successes and challenges. The outcome of the seminar is expected to give concrete ideas as to how ICT can catalyze greater economic development and income generation in Bangladesh by increasing investment flow and diversification of the export basket. A 15 member delegation of Indian ICT entrepreneurs attended the program. During the B2B session, 10 Indian companies meet more than 40 BASIS member companies. Around 70 meetings took place.
