The first ever Information Technology (IT) Marketing Forum aimed at tapping the potentials of the country?s IT industry was held at Hotel Radisson in the city on Monday, July 8, 2013.
Bangladesh Association of Software & Information Services (BASIS), the national trade body of IT industry, organized the daylong event to share knowledge on IT marketing among the country?s IT professionals, government decision-makers and IT marketing experts.
GP IT was the Gold partner while Kaspersky Lab and SSL Commerz were the silver partners of the event.
ICT Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan, Regional Head Agency Business & Sales Development of Google South East Asia Anand Tilak, Editor and Publisher of the Daily Star Mahfuz Anam, CEO of GP IT Raihan Shamsi, Sudhir Nair, Senior Vice President & Head of Digital, South Asia Grey Digital, CEO of Kaspersky lab Bangladesh Prabeer Sarker, Google Country Consultant Kazi Monirul Kabir, CEO of BKash Mr. Kamal S Kadir, Chairman of SSL Commerz Sayeeful Islam, Shameem Ahsan, BASIS Acting President, Gousul Alam Shaon, Managing Director, Grey Dhaka, Russell T Ahmed, BASIS Secretary General and also the convener of the forum, among others, spoke at the programme.
Four separate sessions on different aspects of IT marketing were held at the forum with a view to realize the potential of the IT industry of Bangladesh, get the marketing know how to explore Software and IT services as a Brand while representing Bangladesh in the global map. The sessions were : Marketing & Communication for IT Industry, Marketing : An Investment or Expenditure and The Power of IT Brands, Marketing & Communication for IT Industry.
Addressing at the programme, speakers said ?The IT Industry in Bangladesh is an untapped mine brimming with possibilities. However, despite its lucrative potential, it is missing the spot light. It is missing the kind of exposure that marketing brings through the creation of Brand Identity?.
The speakers held an elaborate discussion on the current position of the country?s IT Industry and called for expanding the country?s IT sector locally and globally in the interest of the country?s economy.
