Bangladesh Association of Software & Information Services (BASIS) is organizing the country's first ever IT Marketing Forum which will be held on July 8, 2013 at The Grand Ball Room of Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel Dhaka. In this connection, a Press Conference was held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at BASIS Conference Room.
Mr. Russell T Ahmed, Secretary General, BASIS and Convener of the IT Marketing Forum mentioned in the program that, IT Industry in Bangladesh is an untapped mine brimming with huge possibilities. And despite its lucrative potential, it is missing the spot light. It is missing the kind of exposure that marketing brings through the creation of Brand Identity. The total industry size is estimated to be around Tk. 2500 crore (US $ 400 million). Approximately 70000 professionals, majority IT and other graduates, are employed in the industry. We have another US $ 400 Billion global market for IT. Although this sector is rising rapidly but in comparison with the other countries, this number is very low and one of the major reasons behind this slow expansion is the lack of knowledge, demonstration capability, marketing knowledge etc.
BASIS strongly believes that, with proper implementation of marketing strategies, IT companies in Bangladesh will be capable of experiencing exponential growth in the years to come.
BASIS realizes that, every individual IT company needs better marketing knowhow on how to explore product or service as a brand. On the other hand, the country's ICT Industry also needs to be branded positively to attract international buyers.
Understanding this need, BASIS is going to organize an "IT Marketing Forum" where we expect to hear from Marketing Gurus and having the insight of IT Marketing.
BASIS leaders mentioned, renowned Marketing Gurus from home & abroad to share their views and experiences with IT Marketers of Bangladesh in this daylong forum. The day is designed in four sessions namely, i) "Marketing and Communication for IT Industry", ii) "Marketing; an Investment or Expenditure, iii) The Power of IT Brands" and iv) Bangladesh Next: The Context of Country Branding".
