The first US Bangladesh Technology Summit was held at Hotel Marriot, Times Square in New York on October 13, 2010. The summit was organized by BASIS in partnership with US Bangladesh Technology Partners and Export Promotion Bureau. A number of US business chambers including supported the event.
Over 200 senior level participants from both USA and Bangladesh attended the summit. The US participants include senior level business leaders from New York as well as a large number of investors, technology advocates and IT professionals from large US companies. A large number of Non Resident Bangladeshis (NRB) also attended the session. Over 30 representatives from 20 BASIS member companies in Bangladesh attended the summit.
Mr. Abul Mal Muhit, Honourable Finance Minster was the Chief Guest of the program. Dr. Moshiur Rahman , Honorable Advisor for Finance and Dr. Atiur Rahman, Governor Bangladesh Bank was special guest. Mr. Sazib Wazed Joy of Digital Bangladesh Initiative gave the key note presentation at the first session titled ?Rapid Technological Transformation of Bangladesh: Opportunities for US companies?. During his presentation Sazib Wazed elaborated current government?s vision for digital Bangladesh and also gave detail description of government's initiative in IT infrastructure development and policy support for the IT industry. The second session was titled ?Building Digital Bangladesh: Partnership with NRBs'. Mr. Anir Chowdhury, Policy Advisor , A2I program of Prime Minister's office presented the key note paper at this session. This session was attended by over 100 NRB entrepreneurs and IT professionals. The speakers at this session discussed in details about the new prospects for NRB investors and IT professionals given the new backdrop for Digital Bangladesh initiatives.
The sessions were chaired by Mahboob Zaman, President BASIS. BASIS delegation also included Fahim Mashroor, Senior Vice President, Tamzid Siddiq Spondon , Joint Secretary General, Shabbir Mahbub, Director and Shameem Ahsan , Organizing Committee Chiarman for US Bangladesh Technology Summit.
