Workshop held on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Strategy for the IT Sector at BASIS Office

A workshop held at BASIS Office on the topic of “CSR in IT” under BITMAP-II (project funded by Danish Embassy) on 14th March, 2011 at 2pm. On that workshop there was an open discussion about CSR activities in Bangladesh and its necessity in software industry. The seminar includes not only different forms of CSR activities that should practice in IT sectors but also widely discussed UN Global Compact’s ten principles. Participants exchanged their views regarding child labor and employee satisfaction. In the end of the seminar the participants came to this point that IT sector should not be far away from CSR activities and if the IT organizations start to do CSR activities, it will help to draw the attention of the foreign buyers. Which is both beneficial for IT sector and national Economy.

Danish EmbassyThis workshop was conduct by Henriette Freris, Head of Projects, BITMAP II. Mr. AKM Fahim Mashroor, Senior Vice President, BASIS; Mr. Tamzid Siddiq Spondon, Joint Secretary General, BASIS; Mr. AK Sabbir Mahbub and Mr. Amir Hossain, Project Manager BITMAP II of BASIS were present on the workshop.
