BASIS and PKSF to work together in creating skilled manpower
20 Oct 2015
Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Service (BASIS) and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) have jointly taken an initiative to create skilled manpower in IT and to create jobs for them. The initiative was announced in a meeting between the representatives of both the organizations at the PKSF Bhaban in Agargaon on Tuesday.
BASIS representative team was led by BASIS President Shameem Ahsan. Managing Director of PKSF Abdul Karim presided over the meeting. Also present were BASIS Director Suny Md. Ashraf Khan, BASIS Executive Director Sami Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director of PKSF Fazlul Kader, Golam Touhid and BASIS Outsourcing Award winner Nazmul Hossain among others.
Managing Director of PKSF Abdul Karim said, PKSF is conducting a training program for 10,000 individuals to create skilled manpower under the SEIP project. Among these individuals 1000 will be trained in IT. Correspondingly BASIS has been working to create skilled manpower in IT and to develop the software and IT sector.  Thus if both organizations come together it would create prospects for more advanced training and employment.
BASIS President Shameem Ahsan said, BASIS training institute BiTM is soon going to expand to divisional cities. Combined effort from BASIS and PKSF would facilitate the creation of skilled manpower in IT in rural areas as well. This would help to achieve our mission of creating 1 million skilled manpower in IT by 2018.
BASIS Director Suny Md. Ashraf Khan gave a presentation on freelance outsourcing and current scenario of Bangladesh at the meeting.
PKSF representatives showed interest in signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BASIS in the meeting.
