Bangladesh Should Work on Country Branding

As a part of the workshops for the newly appointed Commercial Counselors/Economic Minister/First Secretary the following countries, A Workshop session was held at BASIS today about the “Opportunities and Challenges of ICT Sector” from 10.30 am-12.00 pm:

1.    Geneva, Switzerland
2.    Tokyo, Japan
3.    Washington, USA
4.    Berlin, Germany
5.    Beijing, China
6.    Dubai, UAE
7.    Moscow, Russia
8.    Madrid, Spain
9.    Kalkata, India.

BASIS Executive Director Mr. Sami Ahmed covered the whole session with documentary, power point presentation and question answer session. He represented the whole picture of ICT sector in his presentation. He explained that Bangladesh needs a country branding to explore the export market and foreign investment as well. The commercial counselors can play a pivotal role in this perspective, added Mr. Sami Ahmed.

BASIS often arranges seminars, symposiums, summits trade fairs in different countries to promote ICT sector of Bangladesh. In this connection, the commercial counselors have a big role. He invited the newly appointed persons to work with BASIS and Bangladesh Government as a whole to promote ICT Sector of our country and increase country image. Mr. Hashim Ahmed, Secretary of BASIS was also present at the workshop participated in the question answer session.

A long discussion took place at the workshop about the different aspects of ICT sector that covered
Challenges and opportunity of ICT sector in different countries, the existing facilities, how to overcome the bottlenecks, Govt. project related to ICT sector and so on.

The newly appointed Commercial Counselors also expressed their interest to work with BASIS in the overall development of ICT sector of Bangladesh.
